For the third year in a row we had the Overland Expo on our calendars. Its a hard event not to go to even for a day because its so close and we have more and more friends from around the country coming in for it every year. Josh had to bail at the last moment this year because of an opportunity that came up with the R2 group, so I was left on my own to venture down and see what I could find.
I didn't make it down until about 2p on Saturday due to work, and stayed until about the same time Sunday, so here is a quick recap of my short visit:
-It was hot
-It was windy
-It was dusty
-Thanks to an Expo discount it was cheap
-Seeing friends, especially those who live far away, is always a blast
-I was reminded on this trip why I don't drink Tequila
-Even more cool stuff to see this year than ever before!
-Lots of angry people because of the conditions, I came home with a layer of dirt on everything
And on to the pics:
As you can see there were many cute dogs, cool vehicles, and shenanigans to be found. Unfortunately a lot of people were turned off by the heat with lack of shade and dusty conditions...some vendors even left Saturday night or very early Sunday morning because they couldn't take it anymore. As much as I enjoy having this event so close to us, I think we are all hoping the organizers see the light and move it to a better location. Northern Arizona beckons. I've spoken with many friends who came hundreds, or even thousands of miles to this event and have no intention of returning if it is once again in Amado. I hope even if it is, that they do, because we certainly enjoy their company!
